24 Sep Should Your Business Be on TikTok?
TikTok is the newest trend in social media with more than1.5 billion people on the app. The platform consists of 15 and 6o second recorded videos that allow for in-app editing and integration with the other major social players.
The largest demographics of TikTok users are between the ages of 16 and 24. But if your business audience is between the ages of 16 and 24 then you should maybe consider using this app. If your business audience is 24+ I would suggest not using it for your business.
TikTok is not like Instagram and Facebook you can’t promote only your business and expect people to follow you. I am going to give you 4 things that can help you decide if your business is perfect for TikTok.
1. Are You Comfortable with Recording Videos?
TikTok is a video-based app and if you are not comfortable recording yourself on video then this is not the best business decision.
2. Can You Create Your Own Content?
You have to have other content then just showing off your business. Be authentic and create content just with your phone and show you and your business. You don’t need fancy lights and camera equipment. Also, add your own spin, there are so many videos of the same thing so make the challenge that you are doing your own or the video you are doing your own.
3. Does your Business Attract Highschool and College Students?
If your business attracts these 2 age groups then you should consider being on TikTok. But you have to remember to create the content associated with them. They probably will never share it with their parents.
4. Do you NEED Another Social Media Platform?
When you have too many social media platforms you tend to get overwhelmed trying to create content for everyone. I think that if you already feel overwhelmed you do not have to be on TikTok. I would focus more on Facebook and Instagram.
I know at least someone is going to reach out to me and say that TikTok is working for them and their business has grown and that is amazing but I don’t think that everyone is right for TikTok.
