24 Sep Facebook Business Page VS Facebook Personal Page Do’s and Don’ts
Many of my clients come to me with the same question – what’s the difference between a Personal Profile and a Business Page on Facebook? Understanding the difference between the two, and what type of content to share on each one is critical to staying relevant as a business owner on social media.
NOTE: You must have a personal Facebook profile to create and manage a Facebook Business Page, but they function very differently.
Personal Profiles VS Business Pages
Your Personal Profile is meant to keep up with friends and family on a daily basis. This is a place to share personal photos and status updates. You can also use your personal profile to directly message friends or comment on the activity of their personal page.
Whereas your Facebook Business Page is all about your brand and the services you offer. You should invite past and potential clients to like your business page. It’s the right place to collect reviews, share essential details about your business and post about industry-relevant topics.
DO share useful posts or events from your Business Page to your Personal Profile
DO NOT post all of your business updates on your personal Facebook
DO engage you audience with trending topics in your industry
DO NOT post political or religious views on your Facebook Business Page
DO post content that is accessible to everyone like articles about different topics
DO NOT fill your Business Page with data and listings or mortgage rates
DO invite your friends to like your Business Page
DO post important business information on your Business Page
All in all your Facebook Business Page should be strictly business. Promote your business with a soft touch on your personal page. Meaning occasionally sharing a post from your Business Page on your Personal Page!
